Shrimpers star signs on for two more years: 'Hopefully he'll build on his obvious potential'

Former Crystal Palace and Crawley Town youngster and In with a real chance of being voted player-of-the-season wideboy Ryan Hall has decided to stay at the club for a further two years that will tie him to Roots Hall until 2013. Ryan Hall: Another jewel in the crown will be staying at the clubYou've got to hand it to Ron, and many would, after a couple of days of slagging him off and message boards filled of potential protests before, during and after Friday's match against Bradford City, he makes sure that ex-Captain Adam's broadside at his good self is answered by 'crisis, what crisis', and another ace drawn from his personal pack of cards. We've seen it all before, and no doubt it will happen again, but credit where it's due and the breaking news just released from Roots Hall Towers is that the exciting winger Ryan Hall has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at Southend United for two further years, or at least until someone coughs up some decent dosh. Good to see Ryan also put his faith in a club and management that backed him after he was first sentenced to a 20-week jail sentence for affray earlier this year, which was reduced to continued bail on appeal. After seven goals in 31 appearances, but just as important, 16 assists, where would Barry Corr be without him, this is a very important piece of the jigsaw in Blues boss Paul Sturrock's attempt to build a promotion winning side for next season.Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Ryan has done very well this season. He's had his problems off the pitch which have been well documented but on it he has really developed as the season has gone on. I'm really pleased to have got him tied down for the next two seasons and hopefully next year he can build on the potential he has already shown. I have no doubt he could play at a higher level and he will be a very important player for us next season."Indeed he is, which added to the news that Kane Ferdinand has also signed his first pro deal with the club, Bilel Mohsni should still be here, along with Barry Corr, Chris Barker and other members of the Luggy squad that have shined throughout this difficult time for the club and supporters, who knows, we could have smiles on our faces this time next year after all. That is if Uncle Ron and the rest of the board can try and find some dosh, however small, to allow the manager to pursade those thinking about new contracts, and news is promised over the coming days, and bring in one or two, or maybe three, new faces that he obviously needs to mount a serious assault on those top seven places for 2011/12.
