Shrimpers snare Spurs youngster

The 20-year-old centre-half, a former France Under-18 international, is relishing the prospect of playing first-team football and believes he can add some steel to the Shrimpers' defence.[LNB]Dervite told the club's official website: "On set-pieces I have been told Southend are struggling in defending them so hopefully I can help them and do well for the club.[LNB]"I played for Tottenham's reserves against Reading on Wednesday but I only played 45 minutes because I was told to rest for Saturday's game.[LNB]"We trained on Thursday morning and the squad and the standard is quite good so I am happy to be here.[LNB]"I need to play regularly every week and get used to English football. English football is more aggressive and quicker and that suits my game."[LNB][LNB]
