Southend United midfielder Lee Sawyer was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Burton Albion Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall so will miss the final match of the season against the Chairboys, a former club. Sawyer: 'Looking forward to going back'Shrimpers midfielder Lee Sawyer felt the match official against the Brewers last weekend was a touch harsh to give him a second yellow that meant he received his marching order and a one-match ban that will see him miss the club's final match of the season at a former team, the promotion chgasing Wycombe Wanderers.Lee played nine league games on loan with the Chairboys, scoring one goal.Sawyer told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It's really annoying that I can't play again on Saturday because I had a spell playing for Wycombe and was looking forward to going back for what will be a big game as they're going for promotion. It's the first time I've been sent off in league football and I thought it was a bit harsh. The first booking was maybe fair enough, even though I went in to win the ball. But the second yellow card was very harsh. I just tried to nick the ball away from their player and I think the referee just wanted to even things up because he had just sent off a Burton player just a few minutes before." The former Chelsea youth is in his third spell as a Shrimper, and having just signed a new one-year contract is hoping that with a full close season's training behind him he can help the Essex boys push for honours themselves next time around.Sawyer continued: "I'm thinking about next year now and I want to come back in good shape to push on and have a good pre-season. I've been pleased with how things have gone for me since I came back here and we all feel we could be up there going for promotion next season."
