Shrimpers quotes: 'I came off hoping not to make hamstring worse'

Southend United striker Liam Dickinson's volleyed goal handed a 1-0 home win over Preston North End and an FA Cup second-round tie against Oldham at Roots Hall, and the lads had plenty to say afterwards

Dickinson: 'Bring on Oldham, starting to believe this pink tape I wear is actually lucky'   There was plenty of chatter in the twitterverse amongst a very happy Shrimpers crew of players after their cup success which continued the club's unbeaten run to fifteen games, a very lucky thirteen of them wins!   As for winning scorer Liam Dickinson, now back at the top of the Southend golden boot charts along with Ryan Hall on eight goals, another in open play as well, that should shut messrs Phillips & Hall up, well, maybe not Mark, real men do wear pink, and not just cherry voltage.   Liam said: 'It's in my head that my pink wristbands are lucky. Was panic before game when couldn't find any!'   We're thankful you did mate, and as for the player himself on the subject.   He tweeted: 'Another goal and through to the next round of the FA cup. Bring on Oldham, startin 2 belive this pink tape I wear is actually lucky'    And why not?   As for his followers: 'Thanks for all the tweets guys... Keep the support goin strong #PinkTape'   Love it, but on to our shot stopping loanee keeper.   Luke Daniels said: 'Another win and another clean sheet #happydays'   Finally, who else, it must be defender Mark Phillips, who must have thought he's scored another headed goal from another Ryan Hall corner in the second half which flashed just wide.   Still, he was in a more reflective mood than usual as he limped off in the 81st minute which has to make him a concern for the next game at the Hall v Brostol Rovers.   Mark wrote: 'Another good win and clean sheet for defence - thanks for messages I came off hoping not to make hamstring worse so fingers crossed for sat'   S24 wishing you the best as well, that unchanged back four has been the cornerstone of our recent success and to lose two, peter Gilbert has a groin strain, would be too much too bear.   Luke Prosser couldn't cover both positions, a call for Graham Coughlan possibily?   Let's hope it doesn't come to that for the visit of the Gasmen at the weekend.   COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!   What the Lilywhites are saying: www.pne-online.net   Shrimpers fans, have a word: http://boards.footymad.net   S24 is looking to build up it's editorial team, why not join us at the Shrimpers fastest growing unofficial site with up to and over 2,000 hits a day currently this month?
