Southend fought back to condemn Hereford to their third consecutive home defeat with a 3-1 victory at Edgar Street. Hereford went in front in the fourth minute but Southend hit back to record their second away win of the campaign with goals from Barry Corr, Michael Timlin and Blair Sturrock. The Bulls swept in front in the fourth minute when midfielder James McQuilkin curled in a free-kick that passed goalkeeper Glenn Morris into the roof of the net at the near post. Southend levelled in the 26th minute with a powerful header from their leading marksman Corr when he rose high above the Hereford defence to head a sharp cross from Sturrock on the right flank. Seven minutes into the second half Timlin converted a 30-yard free-kick past goalkeeper Adam Bartlett to put Southend in front and they struck again in the 67th minute when Sturrock placed the ball into the net from close-range to clinch their victory.
