Shrimpers midfield signing reaches advanced stage

Swindon. Is it an Eagle from Crystal Palace or the Robins of Swindon Town that could be on their way to Southend United, or someone we haven't heard of, or maybe it's all a wind-up! Alassane N'Diaye: On the move to Roots Hall? Speculation that the Shrimpers are about to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Alassane N'Diaye on a season-long loan should be on the way to being answered very shortly, if not sometime on Monday.   Echo journalist Chris Phillips has tweeted; 'Talks with midfielder enter crucial stage.'   Maybe not the best evidence to justify a whole article, but with the news that club captain Craig Easton is actively talking to other clubs a replacement must be high up on Blues boss Paul Sturrock's mind.   And if the Shrimpers skipper decides to stay?   Plenty of cover in the engine room to cover injuries and suspension, something we certainly didn't have last year, or if late offers come in for Anthony Grant or Kane Ferdinand that are too good for the club to turn down, a ready made alternative whose been training with the squad for a reasonable period, even if events move faster than expected.   Of course the other alternative could be Swindon Town's out of contract and former loanee Micheal Timlin who at the moment seems to be flirting with both Robins and Shrimpers, though there will not be an increase in any offers that have already been made and he'll have to decide what's the best for him, as long as young Michael hasn't left it too late.    The Wiltshire side would be involved in both players mentioned as N'Diaye was on loan at Swindon Town towards the latter part of last season but only made 6 appearances, 5 as a sub so made little impression.    Or, of course, it's all bollocks and the legendary Echo source at Roots Hall towers is just winding Chris up, or it's another left-back! (Though if it turns out to be a wideboy, could play in midfield, there would be cheers from most of the faithful, but we're sure that's a position on Luggy's shopping list whatever happens next week.)   Somehow all the facts, and Monday is the June 20th date Sturrock was talking about as when the action starts on the transfer front, (not sure what Harris was, but it certainly got us excited at S24 HQ!), is that we will get someone to put pen to paper in the very near future.   Boring this particular close season is certainly not.   The N'Diaye Files   Personal information Full name Alassane N'Diaye Date of birth February 25, 1990 (1990-02-25) (age 21) Place of birth Audincourt, France Height 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in) Playing position Midfielder Club information Current club Crystal Palace Number 25 Youth career ?
