Shrimpers loanee striker Antonio German returns to QPR

Blues loanee striker Antonio German has returned to parent club Queens Park Rangers after the Championship promotion chasers activated a 24 hour return clause. Antonio German; back to West London fairly sharpishOnly last week QPR striker Antonio German's original one-month deal ended after making just six appearances for the Shrimpers since he joined on November 5th, with the talented teen scoring only one goal on his debut in the FA Cup draw against Macclesfield Town from the penalty spot. However, he was kept on for a further month with Blues boss Paul Sturrock telling www.southendunited.co.uk: "With postponements and the busy Christmas period coming up we felt it would be wise to hang on to Antonio. He's shown glimpses of what he is capable of during matches but I believe there is more to come and which he will hopefully show over the next four weeks."So after a crap game in the 3-1 defeat at Burton Antonio isn't even in the squad at Celtenham, a 2-0 win, and then gets recalled! QPR boss Neil Warnock said at the time of the signing: "There were a number of clubs interested in Antonio. A couple from the Championship and one or two from League One too. But I want him to get some serious game-time under his belt and he'll get that at Southend. He will play five or six games for them and that will stand him in really good stead."Wonder if League Two, like a few loan signings we've had in the past from higher division clubs, and that even in the third tier, was just a bit too much for these precious kids and he went running to mummy, not that I would ever call Mr. Warnock that, sorry sir! Who knows, but ironic that the striker we all wanted to get rid off a few days ago, Oxford United's Jack Midson, was the one to come good in the end with that brace at Cheltenham.Would you have put money on Jack staying longer?Good luck to Antonio and thanks for that spot kick that helped keep us in the cup for a further week and a half!
