Shrimpers have too much for Bees

First-half goals from Craig Easton and Ryan Hall added to basement club Barnet's relegation worries as Southend triumphed 2-1 at Roots Hall. The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute when Ryan Hall's shot was parried by Bees goalkeeper Jake Cole, but Blair Sturrock crossed the loose ball from the byline for skipper Craig Easton to stab home from six yards. Five minutes later and Blues were 2-0 up when Hall beat Jordan Parkes on the byline and cut inside before shooting into the left-hand corner from a tight angle. Hall flashed a shot wide and was denied by Cole before Barnet upped their game with a 15-minute spell which saw Glenn Southam's shot hit a post. After the break, Hall continued to provide the biggest threat for Southend with a 25-yard shot that Cole saved, before the Barnet `keeper then denied Miguel Comminges from a similar distance. The woodwork again came to Southend's rescue in the 82nd minute when Rhys Evans parried Southam's effort and Sam Deering's follow-up crashed off the crossbar. But bottom of the table Bees grabbed a consolation in the 88th minute when Steve Kabba headed Parkes' cross into the top corner from six yards.
