Shrimpers handed bye after JPT draw

The Football League revealed on Monday that the Shrimpers are one of 16 clubs that will go straight through to the second round of the competition. The Essex club have made the final of the Trophy on two occasions, losing to Blackpool in 2004 and Wrexham the following season. Aldershot, Brighton, Charlton, Exeter, Leyton Orient, Southampton and Swindon are among the Southern Section byes, while Grimsby, Hartlepool, Leeds, Macclesfield, Notts County, Port Vale, Shrewsbury and Tranmere are the lucky clubs in the Northern Section.
