Shrimpers grab two goal lead at Whaddon Road: H-T - Cheltenham Town 0 Southend United 2

14 December 2010 21:27
Now there's a surprise; recalled to the side, the Oxford loanee Jack Midford has grabbed a brace to see his side go into the break two up against the 7th placed Robins, long time to go! Blues boss Paul Sturrock has not unsurprisingly made six change, though one does include the return of prodical son Johnny Herd at left back, blimey, he must be worried!,Chris Barker slots in at centre back while Bilel Mohnsi and Anthony Grant are, of course, both back along with winger Ryan Hall, hurrah!Blair Sturrock joins Jack Midson as the two strikers meaning......Graham Coughlan, Luke Prosser, Louie Soares and Barry Corr, whose back is still playing him up, drop to the bench; Alex Woodyard and Antonio German are dropped from the squad. let's be honest, we didn't expect much from this after Saturday........well, what do we know!Eight minutes in that useless striker, hey, add up his markings since he joined, around 4.5, Jack Midson, we always fancied him really, heads home a cross from Ryan Hall, who we have always fancied above poor Louis.Five minutes late, Sean Clohessy joins the attack and finds our Jack again lurking around in the area, and Midson only finds the top left hand corner of the goal! 2-0 before the end of the first quarter! Now I am nervous!Yet it remains all the Shrimpers, where are Cheltenham? A win would take them into the play-off zone.Josh Simpson puts in a decent cross; Clohessy again, this time shooting and just wide of the left hand post; Hall, a dangerous corner, all in the first 20 minutes, and have I said we're two up!
