Shrews prepare for Shrimpers ariel assault!

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner has told his side to be ready for plenty of the high stuff when League Two leaders Southend United visit the Greenhous Meadow Stadium Saturday!

Turner: 'They are a strong side, fairly direct'

We're getting used to it now, but it's lots of route one stuff from the league leading Shrimpers tomorrow according to Shrews boss Graham Turner, as if his sides haven't done their fare share over the years, with far less finesse!

However, he accepts there are other sides to our game, thanks Graham, as anyone who saw Southend's masterly fourth goal by Liam Dickinson at Northampton can bear witness.

Turner told www.shropshirestar.com: “We had a little bit of bad luck down at their place where we hit the underside of the bar through Jermaine Grandison. We might well have got back into it and got something out of that game. But they proved that day and in subsequent matches that they are a force to be reckoned with."

United are on a four game unbeaten run now, having scored 13 goals over that period, and will compete a double if they finish the first v fifth clash victorious Saturday afternoon, having won 3-0 at home under the lights back in October, though even Blues boss Paul Sturrock accepts that scoreline might have flattered us with two goals late on.

Turner though continued on the theme on how they plan to stop the rampant Shrimpers march to third tier footy!

He said: “They are a strong side, fairly direct, play a lot through the front player Liam Dickinson, but they’ve also got other threats in there. The emphasis will be on making sure we deal with the big kick-outs from the keeper and their longer range of passing. If we can do that then it will stand us in good stead for getting a good result.”

We will find out how they do soon enough, though I wish them lick on marking Bilel if he makes an appearance!
