Sawyer set for start

Southend boss Paul Sturrock could hand new signing Lee Sawyer his third debut for the club when his side host Bury. The 21-year-old midfielder, who had separate loan spells with the Shrimpers in 2008 and 2009, recently signed a deal until the end of the season after leaving Blue Square Bet South side Woking. However, Sawyer looks unlikely to break straight into the team that ended Rotherham`s eight-match unbeaten run with a 2-1 win last weekend. Experienced defender Mark Phillips returned to the bench for that game following four-and-a-half months out with hamstring and groin problems but was only an unused substitute and he will be hoping for some action against the Shakers. Glenn Morris will again keep his place in goal despite pressure from Rhys Evans.
