Bolton Wanderers: Premer League club Bolton Wanderers have kindly lent their England Under-19 forward Jake Sampson for a month to Southend United in League Two, and here he has a few early words.

Sampson: 'Hopefully I can get some competitive minutes under my belt'

So the world's worst Shrimpers signing secret, since the last one, has finally put pen to paper and ready to face the Cobblers at Sixxfield on Saturday.

Sampson told www.bwfc.co.uk: "It's a good opportunity for me. I'll be in a different enviroment and it's a chance for me to learn and progress. Hopefully I can get some competitive minutes under my belt and continue developing as a player."

Be interesting if Blues boss Paul Sturrock replaces nine goal Liam Dickinson at the weekend, after hsi best game against Port Vale for a while, the S24 man-of-the-match no less, he must have known something was up!

Quite a forward line though; Hall, Sampson, Benyon, Martin.

Would Luggy start with that away from Roots Hall?

At his first training session Thursday Sammo, it has to be, told the Echo: 'I'm pleased to have joined southend. It's time for me to get first team games. I consider myself as a targetman.'
