Ron 2: 'There was disconsent & I admit some responsibilty, but saw little fight in Tilly at the end'

Southend United chairman Ron Martin returned as promised to end up saying a lot that he did Thursday, but he took some responsibilty, if not a lot, while Tilly let Macca go on holiday! He's back; and there's a partie trois Saturday you lucky peopleFor five minutes Blues media manager David Scriven sat there and allowed Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin to mainly repeat what he said yesterday, yes Ron we get the point about bloody Exeter, maybe they payed their players on time! However, let's see if there was anything new.Well, not a lot, as warned in earlier threads today, as worse news followed bad re our sorry financial position.1) He expects the transfer embargo to be lifted in the 'first 14 days of July'; OK Ron, two days down, twelve to go, let's see.2) Budget reduced by a million pounds this season but we'll still be amongst the top three clubs in the basement division regarding what we will spend. What with nine players! Love to know who he reckons the other two are and what their spending but it's probably a figure picked out of thin air. 3) 'Can't have players on 200k a year in League Two.' Fair enough, did mention Steve Mildenhall here, your days are numbered Steve, and that Adam and Macca wanted to play at a higher level. Poor old ex-captain Adam, says Ron, was injured for a lot of our Championship season and probably feels he missed out! Got that in quick with Adam off to Crystal Palace soon enough, and at 30, 'probably feels he doesn't have too long left'.Still hopes Simon Francis may start the season as he turned down Brentford after the club had accepted their 150k offer. 'They are no bigger than Southend'. 4) "I was shattered when we got relegated. I just couldn't see it coming." 5) "While there was disconsent, and I admit some responsibilty, we did not go into administration, I have put in £3.3m of my own money over the last 7 months." Doesn't matter where he got in from though, it was his!6) Steve Tilson: "I didn't see much fight at the end of the season. Macca was allowed to go to Tenerife in the middle of a relegation struggle. Though he showed plenty of integrity and we will be speaking soon. His agent is pushing me about a new contract." Hardly a ringing endorsement, so don't expect a pay rise Tills. And off he went to see his son's graduation with a promise to be back on Saturday and a chat about Fossetts Farm, but probably not the consortium!Might have got the odd word out of place, for that apologies to any parties involved, and for the interview in full, go here:www.southendunited.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10444~2083094,00.html
