Ricketts chats to Stevenage: 'Had a great conversation with Boro boss Westley': Tottenham Hotspur

Southend United trailsit has bagged a trip to Scotland to raise hopes that a signing is imminent, but it looks as if the old charmer ccould be using it as a bargaining tool. Rohan Ricketts: Pushing up the ante to become a Shrimper   He's been saying all the right things up to now but is patience starting to wear thin amongst the Shrimpers faithful regarding the ongoing saga that is former Tottenham winger Rohan Ricketts.   S24 was finding his utterings a touch tiresome, and maybe a little false, a bit too long spent in North America, and let's face it this man knows how to use the media.   Now in wet and windy Scotland to take some part in this afternoon's pre-season friendly with Dundee FC at East Fife's Bayview stadium, kick-off 15.15, many felt this was a sign that Blues boss Paul Sturrock was getting ever closer to getting his man.   Well, if it is, Rohan is going to make sure he's not the only game in town, something we brought up a few days ago and obviously don't find too surprising!    Ricketts tweeted late last night: "I also had a great conversation with Stevenage gaffer Graham Westley. The man real has the mindset of a winner. Very humble champion!!"   Interesting, and thay may have more dosh in the bank to pay the wages we think Rohan truly thinks he's worth.   Ricketts replied earler to a query by Harryafc: 'if u dont end up at southend, isnt this a wasted trip though? or worth risk? < Great question. Tell you Monday'   Ermearlier he wrote: 'Entertain the other takers. The decision has been slightly influenced the love shown by the Southend fans, even before signing.'   And before that'Today I had a tough decision to make ahead of travelling to Scotland but I thought I would come up and show my commitment'   And before'It would be a shame if this deal broke down over figures. These are the small things which effect big decisions. I am ready to get to work!!'   And'After all that I am now on my way up to meet up with the @SUFCRootsHall squad in Scotland. Talks are still on going which is always a drag.'   Getting a theme yet?   And here's what he was quoted as saying Thursday before he was called north of the border: "I'm very hopeful, I want to come back and play in England this year and to kick back up the leagues. The Southend fans have taken to me already, whether it's been in the physical, on Twitter or on my website, they've been amazing. I'm really hungry, I'm really focused. The old Rohan Ricketts probably wouldn't have scored three goals the other night. Going away has made me become a man and when you become a man you're more responsible on the pitch. I'm grateful to Southend and Paul Sturrock for giving me the opportunity to impress them, now that I've done that I hope that everything can be agreed."   And another: "When I did that I achieved something for myself. I got myself in the right mental space and realised what it takes. I want to come back now and show everyone what I can do. I think in the past I've proven I've got talent but perhaps haven't had my mind right. I appreciate now so much that I'm a professional footballer. There are so many people out there who would love to be a professional footballer but will never have that chance. It's a precious thing and I'm determined to keep hold of it.   A touch familiarit was two years ago on skysports when he was last looking for a job in the UK.   Any takers?   Rohan ended up in Hungry at the start of an European tour that brings us up to date.   Still want him as a Shrimper?   The Ricketts File   Personal information Full name Rohan Ricketts Born 22 December 1982 (1982-12-22) (age 28)Clapham, England Height 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) Playing position Winger Club information Current club SV Wilhelmshaven Youth career 2000-2001 Arsenal Senior career* Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 2001–2002 Arsenal 1 (0) 2002–2005 Tottenham Hotspur 30 (1) 2004 → Coventry City (loan) 6 (0) 2005 → Wolverhampton Wanderers (loan) 7 (1) 2005–2007 Wolverhampton Wanderers 44 (0) 2007 → Queens Park Rangers (loan) 2 (0) 2007–2008 Barnsley 10 (0) 2008–2009 Toronto FC 39 (4) 2010 Diósgyőri VTK 1 (0) 2010 Dacia Chişinău 4 (0) 2011- SV Wilhelmshaven 12 (1) National team 2000 England U-18 5 (1) 2002 England U-20     * Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 3 June, 2011.† Appearances (Goals).
