Plymouth Argyle will not stand in the way of Southend United loanee left back Chris Barker

Blues loanee left back from Plymouth, Chris Barker, has been given the all clear by Pilgrims boss Peter Ried to stay with the club. Barker believes he has no future at Home parkBarker's one-month loan spell with Paul Sturrock's Shrimpers ends after their away game against Bradford City in League Two on Friday.But it is expected the arrangement will be extended for a longer period, possibly until the end of the season.Reid told www.thisisdevon.co.uk: "I have no objection to that. I should imagine we will have a chat with Southend later this week."Barker was told by Reid he had no future at Home Park after playing in the Pilgrims' first two pre-season friendlies.The left-back has made five appearances for Southend, most recently in their 2-1 extra-time defeat at Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carling Cup second round on Tuesday.Barker, 30, was signed for Argyle by Sturrock from Queens Park Rangers in August 2008.His contract with the Pilgrims ends next summer.
