Southend United centre-half Mark Phillips has been in the twitterverse making sure we don't get carried away with the fantastic 4-0 win at Rotherham united, as if we would! Phillips: 'Nine points in three games who's the inform team now???' Shrimpers defender, and very consistant performer since beating the injury blues, Mark Phillips, is not getting carried away by the amazing four goal thrashing of Rotherham United Saturday afternoon, tweeting that the team have to remain focused for a lot longer yet if the top three place they hold at the moment is going to be held on to. Phillips wrote: 'Cant get carried away need to keep working hard every game and get the schrimpers behind us' Presume he means the Shrimpers faithful and it's a typing hiccup, but who knows with the hisuite centre-back, who gets ever closer to his 'beards for boobs' target. (http://www.justgiving.com/b4bmarkphillips) Michael Timlin has also signed up now to the cause, which he revealed to us all in his celebration after his two stunners at the Don Valley Stadium! Mark also said: 'What a performance that was from the boys shut all doubters up, 9 points in 3 games, who's the inform team now??? Need to build on this though.' No arguing there, the Shrews though on Friday night at Roots Hall wiill be no easy task. As for first time goalscorer Neil Harris, he told Echoman Chris Phillips after the game: 'I'm delighted. It doesn't matter if you're 17 or 34, getting that first goal is very special, especially for Southend.' And the double goal scorer himself Micheal Timlin: 'I should score more goals so I'm happy with that. When I get goals they tend to be good but I need to get more of them.' It follows on from his equally stunning free-kick against Hereford away last season during his first spell on loan. Chris Phillips himself informs us that was the Shrimpers 'biggest away win in the league for 22 years. Won 5 0 at Aldershot in sep 89', 589 away games ago, pleased he worked that out! I wasn't around then, literally, so sorry, however, EEB has texted me from some island in Greece that he remembers it well!
