Southend visit Rotherham buoyed by the return of Mark Phillips. The 28-year-old defender has finally regained fitness following four-and-a-half months out with hamstring and groin problems. Goalkeeper Glenn Morris started in the home defeat to Chesterfield but having conceded three goals, manager Paul Sturrock may be tempted to recall Rhys Evans. Defender Peter Gilbert was on the bench against the Spireites and could return to the starting line-up for the first time following a three-match ban. Striker Barry Corr has scored three goals in the last three matches, taking his tally for the season to eight, and should continue alongside Matthew Patterson. Speaking to the club's official website, Corr said: "I've targetted 20 goals for the season and after that I'll want 25."
