Well, Morecambe FC might diasagree with that, but it's looking as if the biggest crowd of the season will be supporting Southend United in their attempt to remain at the top of League Two Saturday at Roots Hall!

Mark Phillips; hoping to celebrate another goal on Saturday in front of a bumper home crowd

With prices for Saturday afternoon's clash in all sections of the Roots Hall ground being reduced to just £5.

Certainly Shrimpers centre-back Mark Phillips wants to see a bumper crowd for the first v sixth clash between Shrimpers and Shrimps at the weekend.

Phillips told www.echo-news.co.uk: “The atmosphere was fantastic when we played Shrewsbury in our last home game and hopefully it can be again for Saturday because it’s another big game. It really does make a difference so it would be great to see the ground full with everyone right behind us.”

The club are well on the way to their biggest attendance of the campaign beating the last home match with Shrewsbury Town with ticket sales already reported as being higher!

Southend went top of League Two gaining three points against the Shrews with a 3-0 win.

Roots Hall Towers are urging fans to purchase their tickets before matchday so they can arrive early and avoid the long queues.

To buy your ticket visit the ticket office at Roots Hall or call 08444 770077.
