In a good old fashioned game of two halves Southend United boss Paul Sturrock accepted his team had been lacklustre before the break against Wycombe Wanderers but a different team after! Sturrock: 'But we were by far the better side in the second half' It certainly was a thrilling finale at Roots Hall Tuesday evening where the Shrimpers beat Chairboys 3-2.Jon-Paul Pittman put the away side in-front on the half hour, before goals from Barry Corr and Kane Ferdinand in the second half put Southend back ahead and they even missed a spot kick of their own.Scott Rendell equalised from their penalty a minute before the end before Craig Easton fired into the top corner in stoppage time to hand the Shrimpers a hard earned three points and only the same about off the play-off zone.Blues boss Paul Sturrock though had mixed emotions about the game.Sturrock told the Press Association: "Our first half performance was unacceptable and we were not at the races. But we were by far the better side in the second half. We put a lot more pressure on their back four and started to get into the box. I was pleased for Kane and he has a lot more goals in his locker, but when our front three got together in the second half, they really put us in control. At 2-2, I was disappointed but we got the result in the end and that was important because at times this season we have battled away at home without getting any reward."
