Patters tries his luck in the Conference

Southend United striker Matt Paterson has joined Blue Square Premier side Forest Green Rovers on loan for an initial one month period.

Matt of the Rovers

The Matt Paterson saga continues, but at least it's some more wages off the pay bill!

Paterson signed a two and a half year deal with Southend United in January 2010 as a makeweight in the deal that took Lee Barnard to Southampton.

One of the players that remained at Roots Hall during the summer of disconsent, and never given a real chance by Blues boss Paul Sturrock, at least Matt has kept his council unlike Screech, the last 18 months have seen the club employing various strategies to get rid of him, but like the proverbial bad penny, he keeps coming back.

Stockport County, trails with Oxford United, even got a frebbie to the States with that one, and Gillingham, and finally a month with Hamilton Academical in the Scottish First Division, where apparantly he scored a cracker against Queen of the South, but no one would take a chance on offering him a permanent deal.

Nailsworth; home of Forest Green FC

Well, he's off on his travels again, this time to the lovely market town of Nailsworth and the annual great escapees from relegation from footy's fifth tier, Forest Green Rovers, where he has signed on for a month's loan.

He might even bump in to Prince Harry, the real one, not Harrold, who likes to use the fancy dress shop in the town for some of his more interesting choice of outfits.

Best of luck this time around mate.
