Paterson strikes for Shrimpers
Southend needed a late equaliser from Matt Paterson to secure a 1-1 draw in their pre-season friendly at Salisbury City.
The striker tucked the ball away from close range six minutes from time after Southend went in a goal down at the interval.
On-trial centre-half Mark Phillips played the full 90 minutes for the visitors.
