One Shrew stays after another signed on

Shrewsbury Town face Southend United League Two's clash of the day at the weekend, and while one midfielder has had his loan spell extended another put pen to paper on a months loan.

Wildig: Signs extension

Hardly talking Shrimpers transfer activity here but their Saturday opponents Shrewsbury Town have extended the loan spell of midfielder Aaron Wildig until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has spent two months in Shropshire after initially making the temporary move to the club from Cardiff in November, and has started three times for the Shrews.

Wildig has not featured in Shrewsbury's last six outings but manager Graham Turner insists he can play a big part in the club's promotion push.

He told www.shrewsburytown.co.uk/: "He's got good ability, a good appreciation of the game of football. He sees a pass and generally executes it quite well. He started for us at Newport in the FA Cup, he was in the side that beat Northampton 7-2 and then in the side which beat Morecambe, but unfortunately towards the end of that game he picked up an injury and he's not had a look-in since. Lionel Ainsworth's been in there, Jon Taylor more recently, and Aaron's a different sort of player but one that can add something between now and the end of the season. He wants to stay and he wants to prove he's good enough for a permanent contract."

McAllister : Signed on loan last week   Meanwhile, Shrewsbury signed another midfielder in David McAllister on a month's loan from League One side Sheffield United, and he went straight into the side that lost to Gillingham 2-0.

The Irishman, 23, made just five starts and a further five appearances off the bench for the Blades this term, scoring once in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Burton in late August.

McAllister's most recent appearance came in early December as the South Yorkshire club saw off Torquay in the FA Cup.

His arrival coincides with the departure of James Wallace after the on-loan Everton midfielder opted not to extend his stay at the Greenhouse Meadow and instead pen a deal with League One Stevenage.
