One In & One Out for Oxford

It's all been happening for Southend United's next opponents Oxford United who visit Roots Hall at teh weekend in the League Two clash of the day!

Franks: Back with U's   Striker Jonathan Franks has resumed his loan spell at Oxford from Middlesbrough after recovering from shoulder surgery.   Franks dislocated his shoulder in training in September and has spent six weeks on the sidelines, returning to Boro for treatment.   But now the 21-year-old England youth international has been given the all-clear to go back to the Kassam Stadium, where he is due to stay until his loan spell expires on January 1.

Hall: Heads back to Upton Park   Meanwhile, fellow forward Robert Hall is on his way out after being recalled by West Ham from his loan spell with Oxford.   The 18-year-old is in a rich vein of form, having scored six times in 10 appearances for the League Two outfit. (Oh dear, what a pity)   U's chairman Kelvin Thomas conceded it was a blow for his side to lose the talented front man, but accepted such an eventuality was always possible.   Thomas told www.oufc.co.uk: "The timing is tough as we had begun discussions on extending his loan for a longer period and there would have been no issue with this without West Ham's injury problems. The positive is that it is great for Robbie. He has come here, played well, scored goals and had that little bit of experience. West Ham are very happy with the way he has been looked after and the way he has played and have taken him back to be involved with the first-team squad."

Leven: On song for Oxford   Peter Leven struck a sensational second-half winner and Ryan Clarke saved a late penalty as the U's beat Port Vale 2-1, taking their unbeaten run to 11 games of which they have won eight, taking them up top fourth place, six points behind the table topping Shrimpers.   And here's a quick catch up on how they did it.   Ex-Chelsea and Leeds centre back Duberry put the U's in front after 11 minutes when he glanced in Paul McLaren's corner for his first goal since joining Oxford in the summer.   But Port Vale came back into it before half-time and only two brilliant blocks in quick succession by Jake Wright denied Marc Richards.   The Valiants did level though after 62 minutes with a neat interpassing move. Doug Loft released Tom Pope on the right and Richards side-footed home his low cross.   Two minutes later Leven chipped goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson from 45 yards to put Oxford back in front in style. The keeper was not that far out of his goal but the lob was so inch-perfect that he was helpless to see it float over his reach and in.   Yet Vale had an opportunity to salvage a point when Duberry tripped Richards in the box nine minutes from time. Richards picked himself up to take the spot kick himself, but Ryan Clarke dived to his right to pull off a superb save.   And you can see the cheeky chip right here, and wonder how Port Vale didn't leave the Kassam with a point, as well as laughing at the fan who watches the game through a bull's head, hope he's at the Hall Saturday: http://news.bbc.co.uk

Scorer Michael Duberry; 36, and that's not just around the waist
