Southend midfielder Stuart O'Keefe will have surgery on Monday to overcome a hernia problem. The 18-year-old picked up the injury shortly after his substitute appearance against Millwall at the end of last month. The former Ipswich trainee is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that fellow central midfielder Anthony Grant does not require surgery on an ankle injury. Grant suffered the problem during the 2-2 draw with Swindon two weeks ago.
