No Boli for Blues: 'A new signing now would be a real kick in the teeth for team'

Southend United manager Paul Sturrock has confirmed that trialist striker Yannick Boli will not be signing for the club, and it's all about keeping the squad spirit high.

You can stop praying Yannick, no deal!   French striker Yannick Boli will not be signing for the Shrimpers according to Blues boss Paul Sturrock.   Boli has impressed in a couple of reserve games with his speed and certainly knows the way to goal, so let's hope he doesn't turn up for one of our rivals and reminds us what we've missed!   It was close though, his agent had him holding the pen over a short term deal, but Luggy has decided against the former PSG hitman joining a successful squad that is on a nine match unvbeaten run and lies second in League Two, six points clear of the eighth placed club.   Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I had a long hard think about Yannick because he does have some exciting attributes but in the end I just felt like I have to be fair to the players that we already have at the football club. They’ve have worked hard to get in to the starting line up and in to the squad and have combined well to get us some really good results to move us up in to second place in the table. So for me to then go and make a new signing would be a real kick in the teeth for them. I didn’t feel it was the appropriate thing to do and I didn’t want to rock the boat either because we have a solid group of players here.”   Couldn't agree more Luggy; the league table doesn't lie, and we all hope last season's 21-goal man Barry Corr is on the road to recovery to be seen sooner rather than later.   tedshoeness1 has posted on the Echo site how the majority of the faithful feel about the news: 'Well done Paul Sturrock, I agree with everything that you say and your reasons for for not making the signing. You know what an excellent team of players you have and the last you you should do is something that may upset any one them. I would like to add that I think that not only do we have a first class team but also a first class Manager, there a few other managers who could have done what he has done in such a short space of time. Keep it up and long live The Blues at the top.'   COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!   The Boli Saga
