'Morris discolated his finger but won't miss any matches': Quotes from the Hall after Port Vale

07 January 2012 19:20
Southend United got their promotion push back on track with a comfortable 3-0 win over the ten-man Valiants in League Two, and players & manager alike were happy enough to pass their views on!

Morris; will be our No.1 next week at Northampton

A few hearts were in their mouths when the trainer was on for so long taking a look at just returned to the first eleven keeper Glenn Morris, and it turns out after a tweet from Echoman Chris Phillips that Blues boss Paul Sturrock has confirmed that though the former Borient man has discolated a finger, he will be fit enough to take on Aidy Boothroyd's Northampton next weekend at Sixfields.

As for Luggy himself, who handed a debut to new left winger Dave Martin, he must have been happy after that: 'I'm very pleased to get back on the rails. We got in their faces all over the pitch and that made a difference.'

And a couple of quotes from 8-goal man Mark Phillips, who at the start of the season we wondered how many actual games he would take part in!

First: 'We worked hard to make it easier than it could've been. Scoring is becoming a regular thing for me now.'

Followed by: 'Well pleased with the whole teams performance today...and buzzing with my goal as didn't like the number 7 superstitious weirdo that I am lol'

Mate, we're pleased you got of it as well!

Second goal scorer Liam Dickinson: 'It's always nice to get a goal but it's even nicer to get a header because I should get more of them."

A great all-round performance by Liam today as he moved up to nine goal, always keeping ahead of Mark it seems!

As for the ever honest Port Vale boss Mickey Adams, he admitted: 'It was one of the worst performances I've seen from one of my sides'

And it truly was.

The Blues are back!
