Mohsni back for Shrimpers

Southend boss Paul Sturrock could recall Bilel Mohsni for the home game against Macclesfield. The 23-year-old defender, who had been missing for a month with an ankle injury, returned to the bench against Bury and scored the equaliser with a strong header soon after coming on as a make-shift striker at the weekend. However, he is likely to replace Kane Ferdinand at the back against the Silkmen. Lee Sawyer, in his third term at the club following spells in 2008 and 2009, is also pushing for a start after a 21-minute appearance on his return to Roots Hall. Experienced defender Mark Phillips has been in the squad twice since returning from four-and-a-half months out with hamstring and groin problems but is yet to get any game time so he will also be hoping to finally see some first-team action.
