Southend United defender Mark Phillips started for the first time since August Tuesday and now hopes for more match time despite more injury rumours for the Torquay United clash. Phillips: 'I was a little bit rusty against Wycombe Wanderers'It was great to see centre-back Mark Phillips back in a Shrimpers starting line-up for the first time in five months in the 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers at Roots Hall Tuesday evening .The former Brentford skipper had at last recovered from various hernia and hamstring injuries to take the place of Bilel Mohsni who is out for up to a further five weeks. However, news from Roots Hall is that Matt could well have picked up more problems in the Chairboys match and may be a doubt for the weekend and the tough trip to Devon and fellow play-off contenders Torquay. Anyway, as of yesterday, Matty seemed to be fairly confident of his availabilty for the League Two clash. Phillips told www.echo-news.co.uk: "My fitness is fine and hopefully things are on the up for me so I can play again this weekend. I was a little bit rusty which is what you would expect after such a long time out and I do still need to work on my sharpness but that will come with games. My injuries are fine and I'm happy to be back. Hopefully now I can help the team get more good results as well because we've been on a good run lately." We hope so mate.
