The Gulls of Torquay United: Southend United manager and players were quick to give their opinions after the Shrimpers mained in second place thanks to a 4-1 win at home to Torquay United.

4-1, and the canny Scot is still worrying!

Echoman Chris Phillips was on hans after teh game to pick up some early quotes from manager and players alike after the Shrimeprs storming 4-1 win over the gutless Gulls Saturday afternoon at roots Hall.

Blues boss Paul Sturrock - 'Second half was great but we need to be starting games like that and that's the worry.'

Lighten up Luggs, but what did the players feel like after that.

Debutant Daniel Bentley: 'I'm ready to stand in for Morris if required and it was great to make my debut for the first team today.'

Double goalscorer Kane Ferdinand: 'I'm pleased to have got the two goals but being honest I think I should've had more.'

Mabye so, but a brace will do us for now!

As for S24 man-of-the-match, as ever goal scoring defender was not short for words!

Phillips tweeted: 'An enjoyable afternoon at work today-great team performance, another goal for me and the fans were brilliant....defo something to build on. Think im gonna treat myself to a costa express bit of an anti climax for me as i got a niggle in my groin.....not happy.'

Yes, saw him grabbing the area which has caused him trouble earlier this season.

And more on limping keeper Glenn Morris and a possible loan move later!
