Leonard: 'It's frustrating because it's taking longer than we expected'

He's missed the last three games bit Southend United wideboy Ryan Leonard is hoping he'll be back with the boys soon enough.

Ryan Leonard; get a haircut boy!

It's tough being out of the successful Shrimeprs squad at the moment and winger Ryan Leonard has been out since picking up a back injury during the cup draw up at Preston North End a couple of weeks ago.

Leonard told www.echo-news.co.uk: “My back is slowly getting better but it’s frustrating because it’s taking longer than we expected and I obviously want to be playing. I’ve been for an MRI scan and it’s shown there’s some inflammation on my back and we’re not exactly sure how much longer it will take to settle down. That’s also quite annoying but fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer until I’m fit again.”

The teenage Leonard has made quite an impact since joining the club in the summer but has been in quite a bit of pain after going in for a high ball at Deepdale which led to a clumsy fall and his present problems.

He concluded: “As soon as I woke up the next day my back was quite bad and it was in spasm for about a week. It’s improved since then but because it’s my back I haven’t really been able to do much fitness work apart from some jogging in the swimming pool. It’s disappointing but at the same time it’s part and parcel of being involved with football and you just have to get on with it.”

Best of Luck to Ryan, we need as many players as possible out there.
