Kane Ferdinand linked with West Ham move

Makes a change from Ipswich Town, Burnley or Nottingham Forest! Now throw in fellow Championship club West Ham possibily interested in Southend United midfielder Kane Ferdinand, and why not? Kane Ferdinand: Only a short move to East London! According to Wednesday's Daily Mail the recently relegated to the Championship West Ham are willing to offer the Shrimpers £750,000 for the teenage midfielder Kane Ferdinand. Reading that will make Uncle Ron choke on his cornflakes; hopefully. Still only 18 Kane stood out as a youngster of great promise in a number of League Two appearances for southend last season and can also play at centre-back. The cousin of Manchester Rio Ferdinand, there were many scouts seen in the Roots Hall stands towards ther end of the last campaign, including the Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell and scout David Platt from Nottingham Forest. And it seems Hammers chief scout Roger Cross is trying to make sure that the East Londoners jump the queue and the Irish Under-19 international, through his Dublin-born Dad, is applying his trade first at Upton Park, but eventually in the Olympic Stadium! Ferdinand played first in Ricky Duncan's successful under-18 side before making his professional debut on New Year's Day 2011, in the 2–0 away win at Oxford United. On February 15th young Kane scored his first goal as a Shrimper senior in a 3-2 victory over Wycombe Wanderers, while a month later he signed a two and a half-year pro contract with the club. Any Shrimpers effort for out-of-contract Swindon Town midfielder Michael Timlin might just now be doubled!
