Blues striker Harry Crawford grabbed a brace in the reserves Tuesday afternoon, and he told the club's online magazine that he's hoping it might see a swift return to first team action. Crawford bagged a brace in the 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town as boss Sturrock watched on from the stands. Now the 18-year-old forward hopes he can do the same in League Two this season."It is always good to score, whatever the level. I felt I could have had a couple more as I had another decent effort in the first half and then hit the post in the second. But I still managed to get two goals and hopefully that has helped me catch the managers' eye."A product of the Blues youth system, Crawford was recalled to the starting eleven at Barnet earlier this month.Southend went on to win the match 3-1 with Crawford getting an assist for Matt Paterson's first strike. And Crawford admitted it was good to be involved under new boss Sturrock."It was nice to get a start and I was pleased with my assist. Unfortunately Bilel was sent off in the second half and so we needed to bring another defender on. That meant I was substituted but I understood it was what was needed at the time."Crawford's return to action comes following a loan spell at Dover Athletic and a subsequent injury. The Watford born youngster only made two appearances for the Blue Square South side, scoring on his debut, before returning to Roots Hall with an injury."It was good to get out and play some games but unfortunately I got injured early on. I scored on my debut and things started really well. Dover didn't train everyday so I was still with Southend during the week. Playing games at my age is really important so it was a good experience and I wouldn't be adverse to going on loan again. Hopefully I can force my way into the managers plans here though as I'm really enjoying it at Southend now."
