Harris: 'My target is to be in the team when the season starts in August and then stay in it'

Southend United's new striking signing from Millwall is a man used to the pressure of playing at Championship level, but how about when turning out for the club you supported as a kid! Harris: 'I think I play my best football when I’m under pressure'   The Shrimpers faithful can't wait to see new striker Neil Harris in action wearing the Blue of Southend, where he has no doubt that even as the local boy returning home, he'll be able to do what he does best on a regular basis, hitting the back of the old onion bag.   Harris told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I think I play my best football when I’m under pressure. I know that I have to do well, especially as I live locally myself. If I go out it’s in Leigh or Rayleigh and people there are Southend fans, so are my son’s friends and my friends too, so I know people will expect a lot from me but I’m experienced enough to deal with that. My target is to be in the team when the season starts in August and then stay in it. Touch wood, I haven’t had any serious injuries during my career so I’m in good condition and I am able to play every week. That’s what I’ve come here to do.”   Looking forward to it Bomber.   Legend to Legend: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    A good bit of business for the Blues: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/interactive/voting_polls.asp
