Hall: 'Towards the end on Saturday we were all over Oldham and they were really hanging on'

Southend United winger Ryan Hall remains in the form of his life and continues to shine as the club stand one match away from breaking the record shared with that legendary 2005 side.

Hall: 'Their goalkeeper ran out and made a silly mistake by kicking it straight to me'

Though the Latics could have probably sewn the Second Round cup-tie by half-time at the weekend, they didn't, and it was the home side who dominated the final quarter and could have had the Premership prize of Liverpool already in their pocket, but will have to travel to Boundary Park next Tuesday to see who will be travelling to Anfield in the new year.

Shrimpers in-form winger Ryan Hall remains confident of victory over Oldham in the replay.

Hall told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Towards the end on Saturday we were all over Oldham and they were really hanging on, so that gives us confidence for the replay. I still think we have a good chance of going through because we’re on a good run and want to try and keep it going for as long as we can.”

The draw did indeed stretch the Shrimpers undefeated run up to 17 games equalling the 2005 club record, and Ryan's clever lob was his ninth of the season, that ten by Christmas certainly looking odds-on now, making him clear at the top of the Southend scoring charts.

Hall explained: “Their goalkeeper ran out and made a silly mistake by kicking it straight to me. I just concentrated on hitting the target because I knew if I did that then there was no way the keeper could get back to save it. It was great to see it go in but it was a shame we couldn’t go on to win it, especially as Bilel (Mohsni) had some great chances to score.”

Though the poor lad did get it in the net twice to see them both iped out, and he's not happy: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
