The former Chelsea trainee picked up his fifth caution of the season against Stockport on Saturday and will serve a one-match ban at stadium:mk (kick-off 7pm). On-loan Sunderland defender Jean-Yves M'voto is expected to miss the tie too as he is still receiving treatment for a hip injury. Winger Damian Scannell is pushing for a recall after recovering from an ankle injury. Scannell was back on the bench in Southend's 2-0 victory at Stockport and is vying for a start along with fellow midfielder Jean Francois Christophe and striker Roy O'Donovan. In-form striker Lee Barnard will lead the line for the Shrimpers, having plundered 10 goals in all competitions this season.
