Grant: 'If the boss wants me to come on and do a job like Bilel and Ryan, that's OK with me'

Southend United midfielder Anthony Grant is a talented player, but has seen recent action coming off the bench, he accepts his position while the club remain unbetaen, but is is it time for a return to the starting line-up?

Grant: 'Not frustrating being on the bench as long as the side are getting good results'

Shrimpers midfielder Anthony Grant has been spending a lot of time in 'splinter city' recently, as Blues boss Paul Sturrock would call it, on the bench to you and me, after missing just one match for collecting five yellow cards.

Sadly for him, al la Ryan Hall, it turned out to be the 4-0 away win at rotherham which kick started our seven match unbeaten run, winning six of them!

However, Snoop Dog insists he can take it, as long as the Shrimpers keep up their good form, and to be fair, Granty's been coming on to turn the odd game around.

Grant told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It’s not frustrating being on the bench as long as the side are getting good results. That’s what matters the most and if the manager wants me to come on and do a job like he’s done with Bilel Mohsni and Ryan Hall lately then that’s fine with me.”

Then again, the Lambeth born lad has to take some of the blame for his present position, has was getting the attention of a lot of referees.

Grant explained: “The manager said to me I was being over the top. I could see where he was coming from and since then I haven’t been booked.”

Quite true, and EEB in his preview believes he should be back in the starting line-up for the weekend clash with Torquay; agree?

So what do you think the attendence will be on Saturday against Martin Ling's Torquay United?: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
