Gilbert set to start for Shrimpers

Southend`s Peter Gilbert should shrug off a groin injury to face Shrewsbury. The left-back was substituted in the midweek victory over Oxford with the problem but is likely to be fit enough to face the Shrews at Roots Hall. While Gilbert should be fit, fellow defender Graham Coughlan is set to miss out. The veteran centre-half picked up a hamstring injury against Barnet and is unlikely to feature this weekend. There is better news regarding the fitness of goalkeeper Glenn Morris, who has recovered from a bout of the flu. However, the former Leyton Orient goalkeeper is unlikely to replace Rhys Evans, who should start for the Shrimpers after three straight victories.
