Gilbert not worried by reaction

Southend defender Peter Gilbert insists he is "not interested" in any adverse reaction from Northampton fans this weekend. Gilbert angered manager Ian Sampson and Cobblers fans alike this summer when he agreed a new deal to stay at the club before delaying signing the contract while he arranged a move to Southend. He is set for a feisty welcome at Sixfields on Saturday but said: "It did disappoint me what was said but the gaffer made his comments and he can say what he wants because I'm concentrating on Southend and I'm not interested to be honest. "I don't know what sort of reaction I will get from the fans there but I always gave my best and we just missed out on the play-offs in the end. "There was a little bit of animosity over the summer but I haven't really concentrated on that. "I am going on Saturday to do a job for Southend and I am fully focussed on that."
