Southend manager Paul Sturrock has Peter Gilbert back from suspension for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy visit of Charlton. Gilbert is back to face Phil Parkinson's men after his one-match suspension, which saw him sit out of the FA cup draw with Macclesfield after the postponement of the Cheltenham game due to floodlight failure, was completed. The defender could return the Sturrock's defence at Roots Hall. Ryan Hall came off the bench to influence proceedings on Saturday and is pushing for start with Barry Corr also wanting a promotion from the bench after his late goal earned the Shrimpers a replay against Macclesfield. Craig Easton is likely to keep his place in midfield after returning to the side following a calf injury which has hampered his season.
