Gilbert back from ban to boost Shrimpers

Southend welcome back defender Peter Gilbert into the squad to face Cheltenham. Gilbert served the last of a three-match ban in the 2-0 victory at Oxford and should return to the starting line-up. Centre-half Bilel Mohsni failed to make the New Year's Day squad and will face a late fitness test to see if he has recovered from an ankle injury in time for the clash with the Robins. Goalkeeper Glenn Morris took his place among the substitutes following recovery from a damaged ankle but stopper Rhys Evans withstood a heavy assault from the Brewers and should continue between the sticks. Defender Mark Phillips (hernia) is nearing a return to action but is unlikely to start.
