Former keeper Simon Royce is confident that Southend will get out of their current mess, easier to say when your a player/coach at League One Brentford. Royce: As the summer continues and the Shrimpers faithful await any news that they will have a team of players over 18 for the opening league game a mere 7 weeks away, a former player has been contacted by the Echo to give his thoughts on the subject.Royce, now a player/coach at League One Brentford after joining them from Gillingham, is confident we'll get a squad together to fight for promotion as long as Steve Tilson remains as boss. Thanks Simon, but I think there's a few things going on at Roots Hall that makes Tilly just going out and getting anyone at the moment a touch difficult, but thanks for the kind words, at least he's not an unamed source!Roycey told "I can't see why Southend shouldn't do well next season, as long as they can bring in players," said Royce. "I know they could well lose a few of their more established players and that it will be hard to attract others in, but they have Steve Tilson and he's a very good manager. "He has shown what he can do there before and if he has the right people around him I'm sure he can go and do it again."
