The former Scotland international was doubtful for the clash owing to concerns over his fitness following an injury-ravaged year, but he has declared himself fit despite playing against Wycombe on Tuesday. "I'm feeling good and it wouldn't be a problem for me to start," he told the Southend Echo. "I'm in shape and I feel fit enough to play again." Winger Damien Scannell has begun training following an ankle injury but will not be involved, while Francis Laurent is sidelined through a similar injury. Tilson's men will be looking to register their first league win of the season against Kenny Jackett's side. Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Wycombe followed 2-2 draws against Huddersfield and Walsall respectively.
