Former Aldershot winger Louie Soares looks forward to Southend United v Barnet

24 December 2010 12:25
Blues winger Louie Soares turned out for their Boxing Day opponents Barnet a couple of seasons ago, but for now is looking for more consistancy with his present club. Louie Soares as a ShotIf there's a record for 4's given by the S24 player markings winger Louie Soares would be up there, (we don't go any lower!), however there have been signs of improvement lately, luckily for manager Paul Sturrock as Ryan Hall has been injured, and the player himself knows he has to be more consistant.Soares told www.echo-news.co.uk: "My form so far has been a bit up and down this season and I want to change that. I haven't played as many games as I would've liked but if I can start to play well then hopefully that will change. That's why I'm desperate for the match to go ahead this weekend and I really want to get my first home goal for the club. I should be scoring more goals and that's a target of mine for the remainder of the season. Hopefully I can get one against Barnet again and we can get another three points." 'Barnet again'; yes, Louie's only goal for the Shrimpers was the 'other' goal after Matty Patterson's double, remember him, five minutes from the end of the club's 3-1 win at Underhill in the JPT second round tie last October.(A match report on the game here:www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/rprt/mtch/johnstones_paint_trophy_second_round_barnet_1_southend_united_3_566930/index.shtml)Soares signed on a freebie from Aldershot in the close season after four seasons at the Rec to become one of the Luggy 17 as the Blues boss created a whole new squad from not very much! However, he had previously played 25 times for the Bees the season before from joining the Shots, again scoring just one goal, hope that's not a habit!Soares continued: "I enjoyed my time at Barnet. I had just been released by Reading and was able to go straight there which was great. They had just won the league so it was a good place to be and there was a brilliant set of lads. I did really like it there but obviously I'm with Southend now and want to beat them on Sunday."
