Southend United midfielder Kane Ferdinand grabbed a double in the 3-2 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, and then confirmed he only has time for the Blues!

In-form Ferdy bagged a brace on Saturday Talented teenager Kane Ferdinand has got many fans, including West Ham boss Sam Allardyce we are led to believe, fat Fry is lurking around in the shadows as well for Peterborough, not that you could miss him if he was! Anyway, if the Shrimpers favourite Irish Under-19 international is destined to be a Hammer he was certainly in the right place at the weekend, a few stops on the District Line, when the tubes are actually running that is, and it's Dagenham & Redbridge, and once again young Kane showed what a prospect he is by scoring two goals in an all-round S24 man-of-the-match display. The lad himself, for now, is only thinking about Roots Hall and making sure his present side remain at the top of League Two. Ferdinand said: “You can’t let it get to you and you have no choice but to focus on your game and carry on. You can’t be affected by any of it and just have to try to keep on playing well to help the team get good results."   Fair enough, and it was certainly no easy ride for the Blues who were pushed all the way by a determined Daggers before Ferdy's goals and a lovely Liam Dickinson strike made sure the points returned to the south-east of Essex. Ferdinand concluded: “It was a tough derby game and Dagenham really had a go at us. Their front players were a handful but thankfully we were able to come out on top and, for me personally, it was nice to get a couple of goals.” The Ferdy Files                                                                                      Personal information Full name Kane Ryan Ferdinand[1] Date of birth 7 October 1992 (age 19) Place of birth Newham, London, England Height 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) Playing position Midfielder Club information Current club Southend United Number 12 Youth career 2006–2010 Southend United Senior career* Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 2011– Southend United 39 (8) National team‡ 2010 Republic of Ireland U18 2 (0) 2011 Republic of Ireland U19 6 (0)
