Ferdinand, Corr & Comminges back for Aldershot clash: Shrimpers injury update
Christmas has come before Easter for Southend United manager Paul Sturrock as he has a trio of Shrimpers back in his depleted squad for Saturday's League Two match with the Shots. Sturrock: 'A real boost for us at the moment with the problems we've had'The Shrimpers may not need as many youngsters on duty Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall against Aldershot Town as they did in last week's defeat in Stockport. 18-goal top scorer Barry Corr looks as if he's got over his stomach bug and will lead the line once again, Kane Ferdinand has found his way back from Cyprus where he picked up another cap for the Irish Under-19's and last, but not least, utility man Miguel Comminges, recovered from a knee injury, will probably get the nod over youngster Teddy Nesbitt at left-back, though the teenager was one of the few to shine at Edgeley Road last weekend. Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We should have those three available and that's a real boost for us at the moment with the problems we've had. Miguel trained yesterday and we will have to wait and see how he reacts but Kane is definitely back and so is Barry. We put him on the bench at Stockport in the hope he might be able to play 10 minutes at the end but he wasn't able to do that. He's feeling much better now though and it's good news to have him back." Midfielders Lee Sawyer and Craig Easton will remain missing, along with defenders; Peter Gilbert, Johnny Herd, Luke Prosser, and Mark Phillips.
