Blues injured skipper Craig Easton has been speaking about recent matches that have not gone too well while thanking the Shrimpers faithful that have stuck by the side. Easton: 'The lads have been a bit unlucky not to have picked up more points' Southend United midfielder and club captain Craig Easton has been stuck on the sidelines in recent weeks but has continued passing on his thoughts to the Shrimpers e-newsletter Blues Insider.Craig said: "It's disappointing having to comment on another defeat and I don't like doing it especially when I haven't been able to physically contribute anything towards the games these past weeks. Apart from the Crewe result, I think the lads have been a bit unlucky not to have picked up more points from the last two away games. We're the first to admit it was far from the best 45 minutes of the season against Bury on the Saturday, but had we gone in 0-0 at half-time it would've given us a platform to build on for the second half, which we dominated without scoring."However, he accepts that the team have to start taking advantage of the periods when they are on top or the present slide down the table will continue.Craig explained: "I'm taking nothing away from Bury, they started the game far better than us and deserved their half-time lead but we really need to be capitalising when we have the upper hand and only then will we get what we deserve from these sort of games. Sometimes you can accept defeat when you've been totally outplayed by the opposition but that's not what has happened on many occasions this season so we've got to keep working hard and strive for more consistency from each other while cutting out silly mistakes and I'm sure it won't be long until we start playing in the manner we know we're capable of."The Southend skipper did want to pass on his appreciation for the Blues faithful that continue to show their positice support.Craig continued: "I would like to thank you all for your support up until now as it's not been easy for you to accept the changes that have happened in recent months. We're not in the position any of us want to be in at this moment in time but we're not too far away either."To read the whole blog, including Craig's take on the match played in memory of the late Martin Cranmer, and how to receive the newsletter, go here: www.southendunited.co.uk/page/Blogs/0,,10444~2199211,00.html
