Paul Sturrck: Nominated for the second consequtive month

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has been shortlisted for the npower League Two Manager of the Month for October, joining Ryan Hall who gets the nod for a possible Player of the Month award.

The Shrimpers have been unbeaten in October with five wins and one draw with only fat boy Steve Evans at Crawley Town, also on the list, being able to match it, which may make him slight favourite as Luggy picked it up for September, though with a worse record.

However, Southend did have the best goal difference over the games played of 16 goals scored while letting in only four, which matched the best defensive record of the other teams bar the creepies who let in five.

The other two nominees, see below, both have a loss against their name.

No surprise that winger come inside-forward has a chance in the players section, though last month's Shrimper nominee Michael Timlin has arguably been even better!

The judges last month that decided the winner are former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit, League Managers Association Deputy CEO Olaf Dixon and npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins.

Ryan Hall: Shortlisted for Player of the Month

Manager of the Month for September shortlist: Paul Sturrock (Southend United), Steve Evans (Crawley Town), Mark Yates (Cheltenham Town), Chris Wilder (Oxford United).

Player of the Month for September shortlist: Ryan Hall (Southend United), Ryan Clarke (Oxford United), Danny Hylton (Aldershot Town), Claude Davies (Crawley Town).

The winners will be announced on Sky Sports News on Friday, November 4th at 10.00.
