Dickinson: 'the plan was for us to work hard and tire them out, which I think worked well'

Northampton Town: Southend United striker Liam Dickinson grabbed the second goal in his side's 3-0 triumph over the Port Vale on Satuday, and was pleased he did it off his head for a change!

Dickinson:

Striker Liam Dickinson is second in the Shrimpers golden boot stakes with nine, one behind ryan Hall but one ahead of....Mark Phillips, and he was quite chuffed he scored against the Valiants, with his head.

Dickinson told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I think the last header I scored before this was about a year and a half ago, so I’m really pleased to have got another one at last. I know that’s something people could’ve criticised me for because I’m tall and I should get more goals in the air, so hopefully I can start to do it more often now.”

That would be quite acceptable Liam, who still had time to appreciate the effort of all his team mates who simply blew the Potteries club away to bounce back to second in the League Two table.

Dickinson said: “I thought we were great for the whole 90 minutes. The gaffer had been stressing to us all week how important it was for us to put pressure on Port Vale high up the pitch and that’s exactly what we did. We didn’t take out foot off the pedal once and the plan was for us to work hard and tire them out, which I think worked well.”
