Di Canio warning on Timlin: 'If Southend don't give us good money then he'll be back Swindon Town

Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio has informed League Two rivals Southend United they will have to find "good money" in the new year if they want to keep Michael Timlin wearing blue, or cherry voltage.

Di Canio: Showing the way to the Robins bank account

Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio has told the Shrimpers they will need to 'show us the money' when the transfer window reopens in January if the league leaders wish to keep midfielder Michael Timlin after his loan deal comes to an end.

Let's face it, Timmo's not been bad in recent weeks, picking up S24 man-of-the-match awards by the dozen, and not without the odd nine out of ten. (Including this one; www.southendunited-mad.co.uk)

Timlin’s spell as a Shrimper is due to come to an end in the new year and Blues boss Paul Sturrock, who also once ran team affairs at the County Ground, recently confirmed that he's been discussing the possibilty of keeping the in form former Fulham player at Roots Hall: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk

Luggy said on November 4th: "Michael Timlin has also been playing very well for us and I know some fans are starting to talk about his future and what will happen when his loan spell expires in January. It is something I’m thinking about too and will be talking about with my staff in a meeting which will soon be taking place."

By allowing Timlin to go so soon after signing a new two-year contract with Swindon, as well as allowing him to play in Saturday afternoon's FA Cup tie at Swindon, it would appear young Michael is not part of Di Canio's future plan, but the tempramental Italian is too canny to just admit that and hand him on a plate, the Robins are nine points behind us in the fourth tier promotion race and travel to south-east Essex on Saturday, January 28th.

Di Canio told www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk: “I sent Michael Timlin to a side that will fight for promotion until the very end and he has become a big part of their team. But the fact I allowed him to go there means I am not worried because I need a different type of player at Swindon. If he does his job there it is good for him and it can be good for us too because in January if they (Southend) don’t give us money - good money - then he will come back here.”

Well, we haven't got a lot of that, good money that is, but Michael has been oustanding and his loss would be a blow, especially if the Hamsters actually do make an offer for Kane Ferdinand, which would of course give us some funds that........oh well, let's just wait and see.
